Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A one-and-a-half-year-old girl narrowly escaped death after being brutally attacked by a pet dog in Pardi Colony a few weeks ago. An FIR was registered against dog owner on Thursday, Gandhi Nagar police said here on Friday.

According to the police officials, the horrifying incident occurred on the morning of May 16 when the child, Khushiali Pardi, was playing outside her house while her mother was sweeping in the area. Ramesh, a sculptor and the dog’s owner, was walking the pet when it suddenly slipped from his grasp and pounced on the child.

The dog bit and clawed Khushiali viciously, inflicting deep wounds on her stomach, legs, and head. Eyewitnesses managed to pull the dog away just in time, saving the child’s life.

The injured victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and remained under treatment for 20 days. Her family lodged a complaint on Thursday, following which Gandhi Nagar police registered a case of negligence against Ramesh.
