Florida: At least three people were killed as a semi-truck-trailer attempted a U-turn in an “official use only” area of Florida’s Turnpike. The fatal crash took place on August 12 near the turnpike’s 171-mile marker.
The semi-truck-trailer was driven by a man from Punjab. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The two occupants of the semi tractor-trailer, including the driver, are aged 25 and 28 years. They reportedly did not sustain injuries in the crash.

The semi-truck was reportedly driving northbound in the right lane of the Turnpike and the minivan was traveling north in the Turnpike's left lane.
Among the deceased were a 30-year-old Florida City man, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, and a 54-year-old man from Miami, local media reports.
According to reports, the large vehicle was in the outside lane. The driver of the vehicle attempted a U-turn into an “official use only” area. The incident took place as the semi tractor-trailer crossed “over all northbound travel lanes" and then tried to take a U-turn. The minivan, which was in the inside lane, was “unable to avoid” it and collided with the semi tractor-trailer.

Both passengers in the minivan died on the spot, while the driver of the minivan was taken to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
The semi-truck was driving northbound in the right lane of the Turnpike and the minivan was traveling north in the Turnpike's left lane. The incident caused long traffic jams in the area.
A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
