Washington D.C. June 14: U.S. President Donald J. Trump turned 79 on Saturday. The White House wished him well, calling him “a fearless patriot guiding the nation into a new era of prosperity and strength.”
Extending wishes to the President, White House said, "Happy Birthday to Donald J. Trump, 45th and 47th President of the United States — a fearless patriot guiding our nation into the true Golden Age of American prosperity and strength."
Donald Trump's Birthday Celebration Plans
To celebrate his birthday, Trump will watch a large military parade in Washington, which is expected to draw a crowd of up to 2,00,000 people. The parade also honours the U.S. Army’s founding and will include tanks, helicopters and troops marching down Constitution Avenue. Trump will view the event from a special platform with his family and invited guests.
The celebration falls on the same weekend as Father’s Day and members of Trump’s family are expected to join him.
The parade could cost the government up to $45 million and has drawn mixed reactions. Supporters see it as a proud show of military strength, while critics have planned protests across the country. They are calling the event a sign of excessive presidential power.
Despite his age, Trump’s doctor says he is in excellent health, thanks to an active lifestyle and frequent public events. If he completes a second term, Trump will be 82 years old - matching President Biden’s age at the end of his term.
Trump has wanted a grand parade for years, inspired by the Bastille Day celebrations he saw in France in 2017. He once told French President Emmanuel Macron, “We’re going to try and top it.”
Speaking at Fort Bragg on June 10, Trump said, “We’re going to celebrate on Saturday - and from now on, we’ll keep on celebrating.”
He pointed to recent World War II remembrance events in Europe and questioned why the U.S. doesn’t do the same. “France was celebrating. Really, everyone was. But the only country that doesn’t celebrate is the United States - and we’re the ones who won the war,” he said.
“We want to show off a little,” Trump added, referring to the planned military parade. Now, with tanks, troops and cheers from supporters, Trump’s birthday celebration is exactly the kind of event he has long hoped for.
