California: A toy store in La Puente, California, is left reeling after masked thieves made off with around $7,000 worth of highly sought-after Labubu dolls in an early morning raid. The break-in took place on Wednesday, August 6, with the suspects using a stolen Toyota Tacoma to carry out the theft.

The LA County Sheriff’s Department said the vehicle was recovered shortly after the incident. While the investigation is currently ongoing but authorities have not released further details about the suspects yet.

Popular Labubu Dolls Wiped Out

Labubu dolls, the quirky, toothy monster figurines designed by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, have grown into a global collector’s phenomenon since their debut a decade ago. At One Stop Sales, the La Puente shop targeted in the heist, every last Labubu doll in stock was taken.

In an Instagram post, the store said the thieves “took all of the store’s inventory and trashed the establishment,” leaving behind damage as well as empty shelves. “We are still in shock,” the owners wrote, calling on the community to help track down those responsible.

CCTV Footage Shows the Theft

The store also released security camera footage showing a group of suspects in hoodies and face coverings forcing their way in. The video captures them rifling through shelves, grabbing boxes, and hauling them out to the waiting truck.

Labubu dolls can fetch significant sums on the resale market, with collectors often queueing or entering lotteries for limited releases. The loss is not only financial but also a blow to customers who had been awaiting restocks.
