Tel Aviv: Israel on Tuesday officially accepted a ceasefire proposal with Iran. Notably, the ceasefire was brokered by the United States President Donald Trump. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the development. He said that Israel achieved its goal of destroying Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile threat.
Netanyhu also thanked Trump for supporting Israel in the 12-day war with Iran. Just moments before the ceasefire, Iran launched a missile attack on Israel's Be'er Sheva, killing four people and injuring several others.
Israeli Government's Statement:
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the Security Cabinet last night, together with the Defense Minister, the IDF Chief-of-Staff and the Director of the Mossad, in order to report that Israel has achieved all of the objectives of Operation Rising Lion, and much more," the Israeli government said in a statement.
"Israel has removed from over it a double existential threat โ on both the nuclear issue and regarding ballistic missiles. The IDF also achieved complete air superiority in the skies over Tehran, struck a severe blow to the military leadership and destroyed dozens of Iran's main regime targets," the statement added.
However, Israel issued a stern warning to Iran that it would retaliate with full force in case of any violation. "Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire," the Israeli government said.
On Late Monday night, Trump announced a ceasefire agreement. Trump claimed that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire" soon after Iran launched a limited missile attack Monday on a US military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites.
Earlier on Tuesday also, the US President that a ceasefire has been in effect between Iran and Israel. "The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it! Donald J. Trump, President of the United States," Trump wrote in his post on Truth Social.
On June 13, Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion' against Iran to target its nuclear and military installations.
