US President Donald Trump on Tuesday called on Israel to cease bombing Iran and warned Tel Aviv of a "major violation" in a social media post.
Using his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, "ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES."
The statement came shortly after Trump told reporters at the White House that both Israel and Iran had violated ceasefire terms with attacks following an early Tuesday deadline to end hostilities.
Before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump told journalists, "They [Iran] violated it but Israel violated it too." He added, "I'm not happy with Israel."
Israel claimed on Tuesday that missiles were fired from Iran shortly after Tel Aviv accepted a ceasefire proposed by President Trump. However, Tehran denied reports of having launched missiles toward Israel following the ceasefire declaration.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the military had been instructed to "respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes."
According to reports, Israeli air defence systems intercepted missiles launched from Iran over the Haifa area. No casualties or damage were reported in these latest strikes.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force kept its operations against Iran, launching another wave of strikes in western Iran. Military officials said these targeted missile launchers.
