Islamabad, May 10: Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar had a phone call with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday (May 10). During the phone call, Wang Yi has assured strong support from China and also said that their 'ironclad friend' will continue to stand firmly by Pakistan in upholding its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national independence.

The discussion focused on the tense regional situation following what Pakistan called "Indian aggression" the previous night.

Ishaq Dar informed Wang Yi about Pakistan’s measured and careful response after India's Operation Sindoor. In reply, the Chinese Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s calm and responsible reaction during this difficult time.

Wang Yi reassured Pakistan of China’s strong support, calling their relationship an “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.” He emphasised that China will continue to stand with Pakistan in defending its sovereignty and independence. Both leaders agreed to stay in close contact and coordinate closely in the coming days.

Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also had a phone call with Wang Yi today. Doval said that war is not India's choice and does not serve the interests of any party. He further said that both India and Pakistan are committed to maintaining the ceasefire and hope for the early restoration of regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi expressed China's condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its opposition to all forms of terrorism. He noted that, given the current complex and volatile international situation, peace and stability in Asia are hard-won and should be cherished.

He further said, "China appreciates Doval’s statement that war is not India's choice and sincerely hopes that both sides will remain calm and exercise restraint, resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, and avoid further escalation."
