If you ever wondered how long a 4-year-old can talk about his favourite cartoon show, the answer is: two hours and 10,000 words.

A Reddit user recently shared that they introduced their son to AI after he kept him engaged for 45 minutes straight. Not really interested in hearing him out, when he kept speaking about 'Thomas the Tank Engine', the parent attempted to hand the kid his phone.

They introduced the son to ChatGPT, who could listen to whatever the little Thomas fan wanted to share without a time limit. The result? The conversation seemed never-ending when the child spoke to the AI tool for two hours, making his parent regret their decision.

In a post titled “TIFU (Today I F**ked Up) by letting my 4-year-old son talk to ChatGPT”, the parent recounted the moment that happened after the boy was introduced to his new friend, ChatGPT.

An impressive chain of events followed. Two hours later, they returned to find not only was the phone still in use, but their child had created an unbelievable 10,000-word transcript of pure Thomas lore.

"I went looking for my phone so I could text a friend and found my son STILL talking to Chatgpt about thomas the tank engine. The transcript is over 10k words long", the parent posted on Reddit.

They added that the son now thinks ChatGPT is the "coolest train-loving friend in the world".

Both impressed and slightly defeated, the parent noted that, "now the bar is set so high, I’m never going to be able to compete with that.”

Comments pour in

Naturally, Redditors were quick to react to the now-viral post which has gathered more than one hundred comments.

"We're literally hurting our kids doing things like this imho. Wildest thing I read today", a person said.

"10k words?? That's like a college thesis on Thomas lore", another wrote.

"This literally made me tear up. My parents pretty much wiped me off on everyone, which made me feel like no one wanted me which put me into a failed marriage because I picked someone based on them showing me any attention. This gives me very similar vibes. All he wants is to be excited about something with his parent", one user shared their experience in reply to the Reddit post.
