A shocking incident of a man killing a cat to gain social media fame has come to light from Kerala's Cherpulassery town in Palakkad district. A 32-year-old man named Shajeer is accused of not only brutally killing an innocent cat but also posting its video on Instagram story. As soon as this video went viral, outrage sparked, and an animal rights activist complained to the police station.
According to police sources, the accused Shajeer first fed the cat. Then he treated it in such a way that it sends shivers down the spine. He brutally killed the cat and later recorded parts of its corpse on camera. Later, he posted these videos on his Instagram story, assuming that he would get social media fam. But watching these cruel visuals, netizens were sickened and complained to him.
Investigation By Police:
Investigation into the case has revealed that this video of cruelty to a cat was not shot in Kerala but in Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu. The police officer told PTI that the accused has been taken into custody. He is being continuously questioned, and his arrest is in process. Police reported that his social media account in being scanned.

Legal Action
Police have registered a case against Shajeer under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), which deals with killing, poisoning, or maiming an animal. Besides, he has also been booked under Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which considers inhuman treatment towards animals a cognizable offence.
The video has raised concerns over such sickening behaivior of people towards animals. Fortunately, the man is in the police custudy now and possibly won't be a reason for any other animal's death.
