Kanpur: A high voltage drama was witnessed in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Friday evening. A 21-year-old man and his 19-year-old girlfriend were thrashed with slippers publicly in middle of a road by the man's mother. The outrage was reportedly because the couple were in a relationship that their elders did not approve of. A video of the incident is also going viral on social media. According to reports, the youth has been identified as Rohit.
Rohit and his girlfriend were eating chowmein (noodles) at a roadside shop. Suddenly, Rohit's parents Shivkaran and Sushila spotted their son with his girlfriend.
On seeing them together the parents got livid. Sushila started beating her son and his girlfriend who are seated on a scooter, the girl was dragged her by the hair.
Sushila can be heard hurling abuses at the girl and blaming her for making Rohit spendthrift. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video it can be seen, Rohit and his girlfriend has been seated on a scooty and a crowd has gathered around his vehicle who have covered him, ensuring the couple could not flee. Rohit can be seen trying to save his girlfriend, who is seated behind him, from getting hit.
After some time, Rohit's girlfriend gets down from the scotty and tries to explain one of the man present at the spot. The man angrily asks her to get lost.
Police Reacts
Reacting to the viral video, Police Commissionerate Kanpur Nagar's official X handle said, " The matter is in the knowledge of the local police, the police have separated both the parties after counselling and further necessary legal action is being taken. The law and order situation is normal."
