3 BHK Flat In Bengaluru With ₹15 Lakh Deposit Goes Viral | Reddit@anotherimbaud

A Reddit post has stirred up a storm online after a user shared a jaw-dropping rental listing for a 3BHK apartment in Haralur, a locality near Bengaluru. The property owner quoted an eye-watering ₹2.7 lakh per month for a 1,464 sq ft apartment — and if that wasn’t enough, it demanded a staggering ₹15 lakh as a security deposit.

The post, quickly gained traction on social media, because netizens found the rent rates for this apartment too high. Some even believed one could buy their own flat with closely the same amount in the city.

The user uploaded a screenshot of the room and called it "decent-ish". While the flat appeared to be in a well-connected location — near a bus station, on Temple Road, and close to a major bank — users were baffled by the steep price tag.

Reddit post

“I looked at the images they've provided and it looks at best a decent-ish apartment. What is going on?” the Redditor wrote. "Have people in Bangalore started paying this kind of money for shit apartments?", he expressed in disbelief.

Though the apartment boasted standard amenities and a decent interior, nothing about the listing seemed to justify the rental cost, let alone the massive deposit.

Comments

Many users speculated it had to be a typo — perhaps the owner accidentally added an extra zero or two — but the post still left netizens both puzzled and amused.

“₹15 lakh deposit? That’s not rent, that’s EMI,” joked one user. Another added, “I think it may be a mistake, people are not stupid to pay such amounts.”

While Haralur has become an increasingly desirable residential area thanks to its proximity to tech hubs and infrastructure growth, rents reportedly hover between ₹40,000 and ₹70,000 for similar properties.
