A young Chinese boy allegedly damaged the ceiling and a luxurious chandelier worth 400,000 yuan (approximately ₹48 Lakh) because he was refused a Labubu doll adorned with diamonds. A Chinese influencer and owner of the doll and the house took to social media to share his tragic tale. The influencer expressed extreme disappointment about the incident and shared that the boy's parents offered to pay back as much as they could.
A Chinese influencer known by his username, 'Little Azheng', or 'Tail Brother', shared that one of his relatives had visited his home with a young boy. During their visit, the young boy noticed the influencer’s Labubu doll adorned with expensive jewellery and diamonds. The boy then demanded the doll for himself.
Boy Throws Tantrums After Getting Refused For A Labubu Doll
His demand was refused, and 'kids being kids, ' the young boy started crying and throwing tantrums. In the moment of rage, he grabbed a remote-control device and tossed it into the air, shattering the mirror-glass ceiling of the living room, which was valued at 100,000 yuan (US$14,000).
Followed by that, he also damaged a luxurious Italian crystal chandelier, estimated to be worth 300,000 yuan. The influencer shared the pictures of the same in his post. He said that the repair of the damaged ceiling can only be done by removing and replacing all the remaining glass panels.
Apology By The Boy's Parents
The boy's parents apologized to the influencer and requested that the incident be taken off social media. They also said that they could not afford to repay for the damage. They offered him to pay 20,000 yuan in two instalments, which is approximately ₹2 lakh.
The craze of Labubu dolls is increasing, and with the surge in demand, the prices of the dolls are skyrocketing. Recently, one Labubu doll was sold for more than a million yuan (US$140,000) at an auction in Beijing in June.
