Bihar: Chaos erupted in the program of Minister Neeraj Kumar Bablu on Thursday when District Fisheries Officer Shambhu Kumar, who was present on the stage, was spotted intoxicated. On suspicion, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar ordered for a breath analyzer test, which confirmed 10 milligrams of alcohol. The DM immediately got him arrested and also ordered for departmental action.
A one-day training program was organized on Fisherman's Day by the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department in the town hall of Supaul. The chief guest of the program was Minister Neeraj Singh Bablu. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Sawan Kumar found the appearance of fisheries officer Shambhu Kumar suspicious on the stage. When he was called near him, the DM immediately took action after smelling alcohol from his mouth.

Immediate Action by the DM
After the event, Shambhu Kumar was called at the Circuit House by DM. He also informed Excise Department and asked the team to test Shambhu with a breath analyser. The test confirmed the alcohol consumption. Shambhu Kumar was arrested immediately and an FIR was registered too.

Shambhu Kumar's Defence
At the time of his arrest, Shambhu Kumar kept defending himself that he had not consumed alcohol but actually consumed homeopathic medicine after vomiting. It smells like alcohol. District Magistrate Saavan Kumar said that fisheries officer Shambhu Kumar has been caught drinking alcohol earlier as well.
In March 2024, While returning from Nepal after consuming alcohol, Shambhu Kumar's breath analyser test at Bhimnagar Indo-Nepal border confirmed that he was drunk. Then the department officials tried to resolve the matter and secretly paid the fine in the court. The DM has recommended the suspension of the fisheries officer.
