"We’ve got AI to detect cancer, drone delivery for biryani and apps to schedule your pet’s meditation session. But no clue how to build a decent drainage system. And this is the tech capital of the country. Who’s to blame and who’s accountable- I honestly don’t know", he wrote.

Bengaluru has been receiving heavy rainfall in the past few days, leaving the city waterlogged. As it battles the monsoon scene, a viral post on X has taken a dig at India’s so-called “tech capital".

Amid visuals of submerged streets and vehicles routing through knee-deep water, an X user named Dilip Kumar, an investor associated with Zerodha, shared a scathing yet thought-provoking take on the city’s crumbling infrastructure. In an era where drones can deliver food and AI can assist in healthcare, he questioned why the IT hub of the country still can't figure out a basic drainage system.

"We’ve got AI to detect cancer, drone delivery for biryani and apps to schedule your pet’s meditation session. But no clue how to build a decent drainage system. And this is the tech capital of the country. Who’s to blame and who’s accountable- I honestly don’t know", he wrote.

Reflecting on the city’s booming startup culture and rapid tech growth, Dilip raised an uncomfortable question—whether India is solving the right problems.

"Maybe we were too busy building unicorns to notice the roads turning into rivers. One thing is for sure that the ESOPs, villas, and startup exits won’t buy us a shortcut through this mess", the investor posted.

His words went further, putting a spotlight on the growing disconnect between tech advancements and on-ground urban planning. That's when he also recounted the issue of traffic in the city.

Dilip's post, read, "Everyone wants to “change India”. But sometimes I wonder, are we even solving the right problems? Anyway, just thoughts from another guy stuck in the traffic".
