The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a religious pilgrimage and the sacred Mount Kailash is known as the abode of Lord Shiva. It is not just a center of faith for Hindus but also for followers of Jainism and Buddhism. Kailash Mansarovar is one of the most revered religious places for Hindus. According to some legends, Lord Brahma created sacred Kailash Mansarovar, and it is believed that bathing in it leads to salvation.

The journey was stopped by the government of India due to the coronavirus pandemic and the border conflict between India and China. The auspicious journey is set to be resumed through Uttarakhand and Sikkim's Nathu La Pass. Here is everything you need to know about the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

About Kailash Mansarover Yatra 2025

Mount Kailash is known as one of the most sacred mountains and a revered pilgrimage site in many religions. The pilgrimage, which is set to begin after a gap of five years, is organised by the Ministry of External Affairs through two different routes, Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand), and Nathu La Pass (Sikkim). Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is open to Indian citizens holding a valid Indian passport and wishing to be a part of the sacred yatra.

How many days will the yatra take?

There will be two routes through which the yatra will take place; one is the Lipulekh Pass and the other is the Nathu La Pass or Dang. Earlier, the yatra took place through the Lipulekh route and used to take 20 to 21 days. However, this time, it will take 24 days and the Nathu La route will take 21 days. Before resuming the journey, the devotees have to spend three days in Delhi for documents and health checkups.

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh conducted the draw

More than 5 thousand people had applied online for this yatra and 750 pilgrims were selected for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. These pilgrims were selected through a computerised lottery process chaired by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. The selected Yatris are informed of their selection through SMS and email. The estimated expense for each person is Rs 2.83 lakh if you are going through Nathu La Pass, whereas if you go through Lipulekh Pass, then it will cost you around 1.74 lakh per person.
