Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI has rolled out a new feature for its Grok chatbot called Grok Imagine, which allows users to turn text and images into short AI-generated videos. Among its four animation styles is a controversial 'Spicy' mode that enables NSFW content, including nudity and sexualised videos.
The tool is designed for six-second clips and mirrors the short-form vibe of the original Vine platform—Musk even likened it to a revival of that app in AI form . The new Spicy mode in Grok Imagine ranges from suggestive visuals—like bikini-clad figures—to fully nude content, including photorealistic depictions.
Netizens are creating explicit content with the new Spicy mode and sharing it online. One user said, "Spicy mode in Grok Imagine basically just turns any image into softcore porn."
While other AI chatbots are using measures to curb the creation of explicit content, Grok Imagine actually has a mode dedicated to creating sexualised content. The new Spicy Mode comes with a meek warning, "Please do not generate or spread content that violates local laws and morals." However, several users are choosing to ignore that warning.
The feature enables deepfake abuse, especially when impersonating real public figures. An example, Grok recently produced AI-generated explicit images of celebrities like Taylor Swift—with massive distribution before removal—raising red flags.
Grok Imagine launched in beta earlier this month and has already generated over 34 million images across platforms, showing strong early adoption.
How Grok Imagine's Spicy Mode Works

Thankfully, the Grok Imagine tool—including Spicy mode—is currently accessible only to paying subscribers, but it could be widely available soon, and that could potentially lead to massive misuse.
Knowing for being too bold and unfiltered, Grok was also the first AI chatbot to be banned in any country. In a landmark move, Turkey blocked access to the Grok AI after it allegedly produced responses considered offensive toward President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
