Pakistan cricketer Haider Ali's cricketing journey has taken a sharp and troubling turn following a criminal investigation in the UK in connection with an alleged rape case. According to Greater Manchester Police, Haider was arrested on August 4, 2025, in relation to an incident that allegedly took place on July 23 in Manchester.
Authorities confirmed the arrest but have since released the cricketer on bail while further inquiries continue.
In response to the development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provisionally suspended Haider Ali from all cricketing activities. āThe PCB respects the legal process and will determine further action based on the outcome of the investigation,ā a board representative stated. The board also confirmed that Haider would receive legal assistance and support during the proceedings.
Who is Haider Ali?
Born on October 2, 2000, in Attock, Punjab, Haider Ali is a right-handed middle-order batter known for his aggressive stroke play and attacking mindset. Haiderās journey to professional cricket is marked by determination and resilience. In his early days, he sold fruits to support his family while continuing to pursue his cricketing ambitions.
Haider burst onto the international scene in September 2020 with a T20I debut against England, impressing fans and selectors alike with his fearless batting. He soon earned a spot in Pakistanās ODI squad, debuting in November the same year against Zimbabwe. In T20Is, he has featured in 35 matches, scoring over 500 runs, including three half-centuries and a top score of 68.
