The pre-season friendly match between Aston Villa and Marseille ahead of the new season of English Premier League (EPL) season saw tensions boil over between Mason Greenwood and Tyrone Mings. In a video going viral on social media, Mings was seen trying to rip apart Greenwood's jersey after a tackle that saw Amadou Onana go down to the ground.

The incident occurred as Greenwood posed a late challenge to Onana, who was running away with the ball, and it turned out to be ugly as the latter fell on the turf. Mings was visibly furious with the tackle as he picked up the ball and went over to Greenwood to confront Greenwood about the brutal tackle. It escalated to a rather serious situation as a host of footballers tried to separate one another.
