Team India seamer Akash Deep and England seamer were involved in a heated exchange in the closing minutes of day four of the third Test at the Lord's Cricket Ground. With Carse threatening to throw the ball at the stumps after Akash Deep's forward block, the latter dared the England cricketer to do it.
The incident occurred in the 17th over of the innings as Carse had his tails up after getting the better of Karun Nair and Shubman Gill to bring England back in the game. With England being at the receiving end after tensions boiled over between the two sides, Ben Stokes and co. decided to give it back to India.
Team India's backs against the wall in pursuit of 193
Having lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill and Akash Deep, the visitors' backs are firmly against the wall as they are 58/4, chasing 193. Ben Stokes struck in the final ball of the day, uprooting Akash Deep's off-stump to leave the right-arm pacer stunned.
KL Rahul is the set batter but will need the next man Rishabh Pant to significantly contribute with the bat if India are to cross the finish line. The pair had shared a stand of 141 in the first innings; hence, the management will trust them to get India closer to the target on day 5.
For India, Washington Sundar was the pick of their bowlers in the second innings, snaring four scalps to bowl the hosts out for 192.
