Mumbai Indians is all set to face Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, April 27 at Wankhede Stadium. Ahead of the fixture, Mumbai Indians’ star batter and former captain Rohit Sharma was seen mentoring young Lucknow Super Giants talent Abdul Samad.
In a video shared by LSG, Rohit was spotted giving Samad a mini masterclass on the nuances of batting. The Indian batting great emphasized the importance of footwork and understanding pitch conditions.
Rohit explained, “Every day is different. Today it’s humid, so there will be some moisture in the wicket. If the humidity drops and there’s a breeze, the pitch gets easier to bat on. These things you only learn once the match begins.”
Samad listened carefully as Rohit shared insights not just about technique but also the mental side of the game. The MI veteran encouraged the youngster to stay true to his natural style and think more deeply about his approach at the crease.
Rohit Sharma regains form
Both MI and LSG sit on 10 points after nine games each, with Mumbai currently in fourth place and Lucknow close behind in sixth. After managing just 82 runs in his first six games at a modest average of 13.7, Rohit is finding his groove this season after a slow start. He’s struck form with two strong back-to-back fifties an unbeaten 76 against Chennai Super Kings at home and a fluent 70 in the win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rohit also etched his name into MI’s record books by overtaking Kieron Pollard as the batter with the most sixes for the franchise.This marks the first time since 2016 that Rohit has hit consecutive IPL half-centuries. His current season tally stands at 228 runs from eight games, with an average of 32.57 and a strike rate of 154.05.
