Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan suggested that Virat Kohli remains his favourite cricketer at present, given whatever he has been through during his rough patch. Dhawan went on to reveal a stunning tale when Kohli broke into tears after losing a Test in England as his wife Anushka Sharma revealed the incident.
It was likely the Edgbaston Test during India's tour of England in 2018 when the tourists lost by a narrow margin of 31 runs while chasing down a modest 194 for victory in the fourth innings. Kohli, who was captain, scored 149 and 51 but England prevailed, thanks to some sensational bowling performance.
Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, the 37-year-old revealed that Anushka told him that she couldn't attend that match and that the defeat affected Kohli on an extreme level.
"Virat, right now. Everything that he's been through. I mean the times that he's not been in good form and some insights that Anushka shared with me of him. I think it was the Nottingham Test only that India had lost and she said she didn't attend that game. She came back and she didn't know where Virat was. She came into the room and she saw him really down, like literally crying and how he took the whole thing on himself that I failed. When he was still the highest scorer that day, he was the captain of the side that day."
Virat Kohli searching for form in the Australia tour
The Delhi-born cricketer is once again under the scanner for being short of runs in the ongoing Test series in Australia. Although Kohli bounced back after a single-figure score in the first innings in Perth with a hundred, the veteran hasn't even passed 20 ever since.
With the series still locked at 1-1, the fourth Test will take place the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
