Renowned Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin was conferred the Padma Shri award, the fourth-highest civilian honor in India, by the Hon'ble President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This esteemed recognition acknowledges Ashwin's remarkable achievements and illustrious career with Team India.

Ashwin is widely regarded as one of the most prolific spinners of all time. Throughout his career, he has represented the Indian cricket team and was part of the team that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. With over 500 wickets in Tests, Ashwin has consistently demonstrated his exceptional skills as a right-arm off-spin bowler and lower-order batter.

The conferment of the Padma Shri award to Ravichandran Ashwin is a fitting tribute to his remarkable achievements and contributions to Indian cricket. Notably, Ashwin announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on December 18, 2024, marking the end of an illustrious era in Indian cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin's International Career for India

Ravichandran Ashwin had established himself as one of India's greatest match-winners, particularly in Test cricket. Over a distinguished career, he played more than 100 Test matches and took over 500 wickets, becoming one of the fastest bowlers to reach that landmark. Ashwin’s bowling had been a crucial factor in India's dominance at home, and he had also delivered vital performances overseas. His Test record includes over 37 five-wicket hauls and more than eight ten-wicket match hauls. As an all-rounder, Ashwin had contributed significantly with the bat as well, scoring more than 3,000 runs, including six Test centuries.

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Ashwin had played over 110 matches, claiming more than 150 wickets. He played an important role in India’s 2011 World Cup-winning campaign, offering control and breakthroughs in the middle overs. In T20 Internationals, Ashwin had featured in over 65 games, picking up more than 70 wickets. His economy rate and ability to bowl in pressure situations made him a valuable asset for the Indian team across formats.
