Ex-Australian opener and Karachi Kings captain David Warner has reportedly confirmed his decision to return to Pakistan amid border tensions with India. With ceasefire between the two countries announced, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking to resume the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 in their country.
Warner, along with Sean Abbott, Riley Meredith and Ashton Turner was on a charter flight to Dubai as they narrowly escaped a missile strike on the airbase. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the PCB held meetings with the franchises on Monday to decide the dates and venues for the final stage of the tournament.
Ben McDermott has also reportedly expressed his decision to return to Pakistan. Although a few players were stunned by the airbase attack, many have reportedly shown confidence in the security arrangements by Pakistan. The escalating border tensions with each passing day prompted BCCI and PCB to postpone IPL and PSL, respectively.
Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced the resumption date of IPL as the lucrative T20 league will resume on May 17, with the final to be played on June 3.
David Warner has struggled on his debut season in PSL
Meanwhile, Warner, who became one of the most expensive players in the PSL draft, has struggled for runs on his debut season. In eight matches, the southpaw has managed only 164 runs at 20.50 but has kept a strike rate of 150.45.
Nevertheless, the Karachi Kings are at a promising position in the points table, standing second with five wins and three defeats.
