Premier League title-winners Liverpool's manager Arne Slot paid tribute to the legendary Jurgen Klopp after a comprehensive 5-1 victory in the final over Tottenham on Sunday at Anfield stadium. Slot, who was named as Klopp's successor in April 2024, paid tribute to the latter by chanting his name as the crowd also joined in.
Klopp, who had stepped down last year as Liverpool's coach, spent nine years with the club, left behind a rich legacy. The German coach propelled Liverpool to UEFA Champions League win, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the Premier League title. During his tenure with Liverpool, Klopp had clinched the FIFA Coach of the Year awards in 2019 and 2020.
When asked how he feels to have won the Premier League after Klopp himself introduced as his successor, Slot said:
"It feels great but I don't think I want to say a lot. The only thing I can do now is sing my appreciation to Jurgen. So, there we go, 'Jurgen Klopp La la la, Jurgen Klopp La la la, Jurgen Klopp La la la."
"We always come back, we always find a way to win" - Arne Slot
Speaking to Sky Sports, Slot suggested how supportive the fans have been and hailed his players for finding a way to win, regardless of the situation.
"For the whole season we were on top of the league but you also know how hard the Premier League is. The belief for us to win it was here throughout the season. It's difficult to put into words. You can feel how important it was for the fans to be here. We always come back, we always find a way to win. I don't think we could have lost today."
