Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen in a jovial mood with Rishabh Pant and co. despite the crushing loss to the SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 game on Monday at the Ekana International Stadium. Goenka acknowledged how tough a season it has been but is keen to retain pride in the next two games.
Goenka-owned Super Giants suffered yet another defeat to crash out of IPL 2025 playoff contention. Although Rishabh Pant's struggles in the tournament continued, the home side still amassed 205/7 in their stipulated 20 overs. However, the SunRisers chased down the target comfortably, thanks to Abhishek Sharma's blazing fifty and credible contributions from Ishan Kishan (35), Heinrich Klaasen (47) and Kamindu Mendis (32*).
Taking to X, Goenka wrote by uploading a photo with his players:
"It’s been a challenging second half of the season, but there’s much to take heart in. The spirit, the effort, and the moments of excellence give us a lot to build on. Two games remain. Let’s play with pride and finish strong."
"Need to take pride in the way we're playing" - Rishabh Pant
At the post-match presentation, LSG captain Pant pointed out to injuries to Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav as a massive factor that dented their campaign. He said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:
"The way we planned the auction, if we had the same bowling [attack], the story would be different. At the same time, this is cricket, things can happen. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don't. Need to take pride in the way we're playing. Need to look at the positives other than discussing more on the negative side."
