The results of the double-header fixtures on Sunday, May 18 have painted a clear picture of where does race to the IPL 2025 Playoff stands. Gujarat Titans’ dominant 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the evening clash confirmed Playoff berths for themselves, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS), narrowing the field to just one remaining spot with three teams still in contention.
Had Delhi won the match, they would have moved to 15 points, with a real chance of finishing above the current top three depending on remaining fixtures.
With GT, RCB, and PBKS now assured of a top-four finish, only one Playoff spot remains, and three teams Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) left in the hunt.

MI, DC & LSG IPL 2025 playoff scenario explained
Mumbai Indians (14 points in 12 games)
Remaining fixtures: DC and PBKS
Currently best placed in the race, MI have their fate in their own hands. Two wins will take them to 18 points and guarantee qualification. A win over Delhi will also damage DC’s chances significantly. However, a loss to Delhi could be costly especially if DC also beat PBKS and LSG perform well in their last three games.
Delhi Capitals (13 points in 12 games)
Remaining fixtures: MI and PBKS
Delhi started strong with four straight wins but have stumbled in the second half of the season. Their only realistic path to the Playoffs is to win both remaining matches. Any defeat will end their campaign.
Lucknow Super Giants (10 points in 11 games)
Remaining fixtures: SRH, GT and RCB
LSG are the underdogs in this race. Despite having three games left, they can reach a maximum of 16 points. Even if they win all three, their qualification will depend on other results going in their favourespecially needing MI and DC to drop points.
