Ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday, May 11, Rajasthan Royals paid a touching tribute to one of India’s most decorated para-athletes, Avani Lekhara. In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on their social media handle, Avani is seen visiting the Royals' camp and sharing special moment with RR’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara.
In the clip, Sangakkara is seen presenting Avani with a special edition pink Royals jersey, thanking her for her presence and support. Avani on the other hand gifted her Paralympics jersey to the team, marking a moment of mutual respect and admiration.
The Royals took the field against Mumbai Indians donning a striking all-pink jersey to champion the cause of women’s empowerment and upliftment of rural communities. The Royals' all pink jersey symbolized their commitment to social impact. Besides Lekhara, former England Football manager Gareth Southgate was also present in the stands watching the match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.

About Avani Lekhara?
Born on November 8, 2001, Avani’s journey is one of resilience and exceptional grit. After a tragic car accident at the age of 11 left her with paraplegia, she turned to shooting as a means of self-expression and strength. Her rise was nothing short of phenomenal.
At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, she made history as the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Games — a gold and a bronze. She continued her stunning form at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, clinching gold in the 10m air rifle standing event, becoming the first Indian woman to win three Paralympic medals.
