The Indian government has blocked the Instagram accounts of top Pakistani cricketers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The Instagram accounts of several Pakistani players, including Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, and Imam-ul-Haq, have also been blocked in India. This move comes in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people on April 22.
The block appears to be part of a larger push by Indian authorities to limit access to platforms or individuals seen as fomenting anti-India views or linked to a country seen increasingly through a hostile prism. The Indian government has been tightening its grip on digital content, particularly targeting Pakistani nationals, following the terror attack.

This digital crackdown highlights the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, with the Indian government taking strict measures to restrict content perceived as anti-India. The block has sparked discussions about the role of social media in geopolitical conflicts and the impact on cross-border cultural exchange.
