Team India ODI skipper Rohit Sharma attended Day 3 of the India vs England 5th Test, which is currently being played at the Oval. The former Test skipper, who recently retired from the longest format of the game, made his way into the ground a few minutes after play began on Saturday.

Yashavi Jaiswal reveals message from Rohit Sharma

Following a fantastic century on Day 3, Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed receiving a message from former captain Rohit Sharma, who was present in the stands to watch the match on Saturday, August 2.

During the post-match press conference, he revealed, “I saw Rohit bhai and said hi to him. He just told me that I should keep batting,".

Further talking about the century, he added, “The wicket was a little spicy. I was enjoying batting. I was enjoying it a lot. I expect that in England, when you play, you play on a wicket like this. Mentally, I was ready and I was just enjoying. I knew what shots I was going to play on this surface,"

How did Jaiswal perform on Day 3?

Jaiswal started day 3 with a massive partnership with overnight batting partner Akash Deep as the duo frustrated England in the first session. They added 107 runs for the fourth wicket off 150 balls. He further got involved in crucial stands with Karun Nair and Ravindra Jadeja of 40 and 44 runs respectively to help extend India’s lead to 250.

Jaiswal scored his sixth Test century as he played a scintillating innings of 118 (164) with the help of 14 fours and two sixes. Courtesy of his knock, India managed to extend their second innings lead to 373 and set England a target of 374 runs to win the Test
