Team India all-rounder Shardul Thakur shared his thoughts over limited bowling opportunity given to him by skipper Shubman Gill during India vs England 4th Test. Speaking during the press conference after conclusion of Day 3, Thakur, who bowled just five overs for 35 runs, pointed out that bowling decisions rested with the captain.
He said, “Giving bowling is the captain’s call. Not in my hands. The captain decides when to give them. I could have bowled two overs more today but that is the captain’s call. It is difficult to find rhythm but I try and use my experience.” Shardul failed to make an impact in his first five overs, where he gave away 35 runs at an economy rate of 7.
Shardul, who was dropped from the XI for the last two Tests, made a comeback in the ongoing match after an injury to Nitish Kumar Reddy. The fast-bowling all-rounder made a case with the bat, contributing a vital 41 runs. However he is yet to completely get the trust of his skipper when it comes to bowling.
Shardul Thakur praises Rishabh Pant
Shardul Thakur also lavished praised on Rishabh Pant who showed guts to carry on with hi batting despite suffering fracture on his tow. Spaking to the reporter, he said, "I think it was always our plan (to try and bring Pant to the middle). There were quite a few efforts from the medical team. So, yes, kudos to them,"
"They could get Rishabh back onto the field. He could bat there for a while. And whatever he did, it's of course vital runs for the team he scored.
He added, "And yes, he was in a lot of pain. And we have seen him doing a lot of amazing things. And this was just another amazing thing that he did for the team today,".
