Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) director of cricket operations Mike Hesson has been announced as Pakistan team's new head coach as far as white-ball cricket goes. Hesson will take charge of the team effective from 26th May, 2025 as he occupies the position left vacant by ex fast bowler Aaqib Javed.
A highly experienced coach, Hesson has held various coaching gigs, including propelling New Zealand to the 2015 World Cup final under his tenure. The 50-year-old was also appointed as the coach of Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2018 but tendered his resignation the very next year. In August 2019, he was appointed as director of cricket operations for RCB but didn't last long. Hesson joined the Islamabad United as a coach in 2023.
Hesson is likely to begin his tenure with the home series in Bangladesh. With the 10th season of PSL now rescheduled, the PSL will likely come up with a new schedule for hosting Bangladesh.
