Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Lungi Ngidi posted a story on Instagram of him seemingly heading back for IPL 2025. With IPL 2025 set to resume on April 17 after the BCCI suspended the ten-team tournament for a week and RCB in contention to reach the playoffs, the right-arm speedster posted a story with words, 'Off we go.'

While Ngidi has also been selected for the World Test Championship Final (WTC) against Australia that begins next month, the South African speedster will be equally required by the Royal Challengers. With Josh Hazlewood nursing a shoulder niggle and unlikely to turn up for their remaining matches, the three-time finalists could use Ngidi's services as they hope to break their title drought.

Lungi Ngidi has played only one match in IPL 2025
The 29-year-old, who was bought by the franchise for his base price of ₹1 crore, has played only one match this season, which came against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, Ngidi made a crucial contribution in that game as he took figures of 4-0-30-3, including dismissing Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis in back-to-back deliveries to bring RCB back into the contest.
The Royal Challengers eventually stood triumphant by a couple of runs. RCB are well on track to qualify for the playoffs, holding the second position currently with eight wins in 11 matches. The BCCI had suspended IPL for a week due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan.
However, it will resume on May 17, with RCB facing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
