Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi has been re-signed by South Delhi Superstarz as the leggie fulfilled the expectation of being one of the costliest picks in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) auction. While Rathi went for his base price of ₹30 lakh to the Super Giants, he is all set to earn ₹38 lakh from the DPL after entering at ₹10 lakh.
The mystery spinner also attracted interest from Purani Dilli in the auction but the South Delhi Superstarz bagged his services for an amount of ₹38 lakh. Hence, he will earn ₹8 lakh more in DPL than he did in the IPL. Notably, in 2023, the case was the same for left-handed batter B Sai Sudharsan when he joined Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) franchise Lyca Kovai Kings for ₹21.6 lakh, ₹1.6 lakh more than his IPL salary.
The likes of Nitish Rana, Simarjeet Singh, Vansh Bedi, Prince Yadav, Virat Kohli's nephew Aryaveer, Virender Sehwag's son Aryavir were also picked in the DPL auction.
Digvesh Rathi had a highly promising IPL season for the Lucknow Super Giants
The Delhi-born cricketer had an unforgettable season this year, picking up 14 scalps in 13 matches at 30.64 alongside maintaining a decent economy rate of 8.25. At the same time, Rathi also landed in an array of controversies due to his notebook celebration and had some confrontations.
Nevertheless, his heart-in-the-sleeve performances could ensure that LSG retains him for the following season.
