Suryakumar Yadav had a successful hernia surgery in Munich, Germany and is currently in recovery. India's T20I captain shared a video of himself walking in the park after surgery. He captioned the post ' Baby Steps'.
SKY had earlier posted a photo of himself after the hospital following a surgery. He had captioned the post, "Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can't wait to be back,".
This latest surgery is the third one for Suryakumar Yadav in as many years, following an ankle operation in 2023 and a similar hernia operation in 2024.
What is a Sports Hernia?
A sports hernia is a soft tissue injury in the groin or lower abdomen that typically affects muscles, tendons, or ligaments. Cricketers, footballers, or hockey players are most likely to have it due to frequent twisting, sprinting, or sudden changes in direction.
What's next for SKY?
Suryakumar was last seen in action during IPL 2025, where he played a vital role in Mumbai Indians' run to the playoffs. He finished the season with 717 runs - the most by a non-opener in the tournament's history and the highest by any MI batter in a single season.
He even featured briefly in the T20 Mumbai League, captaining Triumph Knights Mumbai North East and scoring 122 runs in five innings before deciding to undergo the procedure.
India's is currently in England for five match Test series (till August 4). AFter England Team India will be touring Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is. Suryakumar is expected to return to lead the T20I side in Chattogram on August 26.
