The tussle in Mahayuti over the post of guardian ministers is still going on. There are 42 ministers, but 12 districts don't have representation in the current government. Many districts have multiple ministers, leading to competition for positions. Given that this is a tripartite government, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the tussle is heating up day by day.
In Jalgaon too, a similar tussle is seen between the BJP and the Shinde Sena. Gulabrao Patil of the Shinde Sena was the Guardian Minister in the previous term. Patil has insisted on retaining the post of guardian minister. The BJP has also won five seats in the district and wants the post of guardian minister. From the BJP, Girish Mahajan and Sanjay Savkare are contenders.
The District Planning Development Committee (DPDC) funds are in the hands of the guardian minister. It benefits in party expansion. Therefore both BJP and Shinde Sena are claiming the post in Jalgaon district. It is necessary to announce the list of guardian ministers soon as they are the ones who will unfurl the tricolour at their respective district headquarters on Republic Day (January 26). Therefore, it is expected that these ministers will be announced by Monday.
