A photo of a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee sleeping on a sidewalk outside the office building in Pune's Hinjawadi has been circulated on social media for the last few days.
Reportedly, the employee, who has been identified as Sourabh More, claimed that the IT company did not pay his salary for months.
What has More written in the letter?
In a handwritten letter, More claimed that he had reported back to the TCS office at Sahyadri Park, Pune, on 29th July 2025, but his ID was not active on Ultimatix and TCS systems. He added that he had met with the Human Resources department, which had assured him that his salary would be paid, but that had not happened.
"I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCS on footpath. HR has not responded to that and kept quiet. Hence I am living on footpath since 29th July 2025 in front of TCS (sic)," read the letter.

FITE stands in solidarity
Forum for IT Employees (FITE) on Sunday said it "stands in solidarity" with More, who has been protesting outside the TCS office in Pune for his pending salary. "His courage to raise his voice in such dire conditions is commendable," it added.
"However, salary delays and job-related issues should also be formally reported to the Labour Office. Protesting is a strong visual message, but combining it with a legal complaint strengthens the fight and compels accountability," FITE said in a statement.

TCS finally responds
Speaking to HT, TCS said More’s payroll had been suspended following standard procedure after he was absent from work without authorisation.
"This is a case of unauthorised absence where the employee has been absent from office. In accordance with standard procedure, payroll was suspended during this period," read the statement.
"The employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement. We have provided him accommodation for now and are supporting him in addressing his situation in a fair and constructive manner,” it added.
