Pune Sees Season’s Hottest Days With Temperatures Crossing 40°C; Thunderstorms And Lightning Predicted Around April 10–11

On Sunday, 41.4°C was recorded in the Pashan area, marking it as the season's highest temperature. Last week, the temperature had dropped to about 35°C due to the rains.

The three days of rainfall brought much respite to the residents of Pune; however, the temperature has yet again touched the 40-degree mark in several parts of Pune, marking a significant rise in the city's heat levels on Monday.

The intense heatwave has affected areas like Pashan, Lohegaon, and Rajgurunagar, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing warnings about the continued rise in temperatures.

On Sunday, 41.4°C was recorded in the Pashan area, marking it as the season's highest temperature. Last week, the temperature had dropped to about 35°C due to the rains.

While the IMD has warned of high temperatures, a little relief is expected with thunderstorms and lightning predicted around April 10–11.

The temperature at Koregaon Park on Sunday was recorded as 40.2°C. Lohegaon recorded a temperature of 41°C on Sunday, which was above normal by 3.6°C.

Shivajinagar recorded a rise in temperature over the last 48 hours, reaching 39.2°C on Sunday from 36.2°C on Friday.

Other areas crossing the 40-degree mark on Sunday included Rajgurunagar (40.5°C), Koregaon Park (40.2°C), and Dhamdhere (40.0°C).

Other parts of the city, including Baramati (38.7°C), Hadapsar (38.6°C), Wagholi (38.4°C), Balewadi (38.3°C), and Magarpatta (38.2°C), also witnessed intense heat.

The Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures may continue the same in the coming days. Citizens are advised to avoid going outdoors between 12 PM and 3 PM, stay hydrated, and protect themselves from direct sunlight.

Minimum temperature touch 25

Meanwhile, on Monday, the minimum temperature in Pune's Wadgaon Sheri and Magarpatta areas crossed 25°C, marking a significant rise in the region's temperature.

Wadgaon Sheri recorded the highest at 25.3°C, while Magarpatta registered 25.1°C. Other areas like Indapur and Dapodi experienced temperatures of 21.1°C and 21.4°C, respectively. In contrast, Talegaon recorded the lowest temperature at 16.8°C, with Purandar and Haveli at 17.0°C and 17.3°C. These readings highlight the temperature variations across Pune's different regions.
