The Pune division of Central Railway has taken strong action against passengers travelling without valid tickets. Between April and July 2025, ticket checking teams took action against 1.52 lakh passengers for travelling without a proper ticket and collected a total of ₹8.42 crore as fine.
According to officials, the drives were carried out in passenger trains, express trains, suburban services, and special trains. Ticket checkers also conducted surprise inspections at stations and on moving trains.
Hemant Behera, PRO of the Pune division, said the campaign aims to reduce ticketless travel, which not only causes a loss of revenue but also inconveniences genuine passengers. By intensifying checks, the division hopes to send a clear message that travelling without a ticket will not be tolerated.

He urged passengers to always buy proper and valid tickets before boarding a train. Travelling without a ticket can lead to heavy penalties and, in some cases, even legal action. Also, the public needs to cooperate with ticket checking staff during inspections.
