In a bid to curb thefts and enhance the safety of passengers, assets, and railway premises, the Pune Railway Division has ramped up its security arrangements. A series of intensified measures have been rolled out across the division, with particular focus on Pune Railway Station, which has been identified as a sensitive locations.
Hemant Behera, Public Relations Officer of the Pune Division, stated that the division remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of passengers. He added that senior officials have taken these proactive decisions to maintain a secure environment across railway stations and trains in the region.
As part of the enhanced security measures, an additional inspector has been deployed during the evening shift at Pune Railway Station to strengthen surveillance and ensure swift response to any incidents. Regular surprise checks are now being carried out by gazetted officers across sensitive areas to maintain heightened vigilance.

CCTV surveillance, sabotage check and more
CCTV surveillance is being monitored continuously in real-time, allowing security personnel to keep a close watch on activities across the station premises. Coordination meetings with the Government Railway Police (GRP) are being held regularly to ensure seamless joint operations and effective patrolling at the station.
Sabotage checks have been intensified with assistance from dog squads, and security personnel deployed in circulating areas have been instructed to carry arms while on duty to bolster on-ground preparedness. Random checks are also being conducted to deter potential threats.
To support emergency deployment, two barracks located at Tadiwala Road in Pune, each with a capacity of around 30 beds, are available to house reserve staff. A reserve company comprising 30 personnel is also stationed and on standby for emergency response.
An emergency WhatsApp group has been created to enable rapid information sharing among key security personnel. In addition, an officer along with two staff members has been deployed in each shift at Pune Railway Station to patrol platform areas and maintain a visible security presence.
To ensure onboard passenger safety, around 24 trains across the Pune division are currently being escorted. During night shifts, a specially nominated inspector (ICF) is tasked with monitoring the situation in coordination with DSCR Pune. Special teams in plain clothes have also been deployed on trains and at stations to gather intelligence discreetly and prevent untoward incidents.
Complaints received via the Rail Madad platform are being closely monitored and addressed promptly. Furthermore, the division is maintaining active coordination with the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) units for the collection and analysis of intelligence inputs.
