Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje has urged Union Minister of State for Urban Development Tokhan Sahu to immediately begin the recruitment and promotion process for vacant posts at the Government of India Printing Press in Gandhinagar.

Waje, who had earlier visited the press to understand the problems faced by workers, had followed up with the Ministry of Urban Development in July and December 2024. Following this correspondence, sanctioned posts at the printing press were announced. However, with no visible progress, Waje, along with a delegation from the Press Workers’ Union, met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of State Tokhan Sahu in February 2025 to demand that the recruitment and promotion process be initiated. Two meetings were subsequently held at the central level.

Despite this, progress has remained slow in recent months. On August 5, 2025, MP Waje again met Minister of State Sahu in New Delhi, this time accompanied by Press Workers’ Union general secretary Pramod Pawar, president Kundan Gaikwad and KS Venkatesh. They submitted a memorandum reiterating the demand to immediately begin the stalled recruitment and promotion process at the Gandhinagar Press.

In a positive response, Minister Sahu personally visited the Gandhinagar Press in Nashik and assured the delegation that he would assess the workers’ concerns on-site and initiate the necessary recruitment measures at the earliest.

Following this visit, Press Workers’ Union general secretary Pramod Pawar thanked MP Waje for his continued follow-up with the Centre.
