The annual pilgrimage of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhis will be in Pune city on June 20, 21, and 22, 2025. As per instructions from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, and under the guidance of Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil (Eastern Region), the Pune Traffic Department has implemented detailed traffic plans and restrictions to ensure smooth movement and public safety.

Pune Police has significantly ramped up preparations for the arrival of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhis, deploying a massive security and traffic management force across the city. As part of the deployment, 4 Additional Commissioners of Police, 10 Deputy Commissioners, 20 Assistant Commissioners, 128 Police Inspectors, 513 Police Sub-Inspectors, and 6,143 constables have been assigned duties. In addition, one company of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), 1,250 Home Guards, 12 Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and 6 Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) have also been mobilized to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the wari processions.

Citizens will have access to the live location of both Palkhis through a dedicated Pune Police web page and social media channels. Interdepartmental meetings were held with departments like PWD, PMC, MSEDCL, Metro Rail, and Fire Brigade to ensure seamless arrangements, added Kumar. Meetings have also been held with Palkhi leaders and trustees to coordinate overall arrangements.

The Ashadhi Wari is not just a procession; it’s a spiritual journey symbolizing faith, unity, and devotion. Kumar added that to maintain law and order, especially the safety of women, all preparations have been made so far. All routes have been checked, and necessary steps have been taken.

Moreover, a video has been launched regarding the traffic diversion that will help and educate people about the routes of the Palkhi.

NDRF teams have been deployed at Vishrantwadi, Dive Ghat, and other ghat areas to tackle any emergency or unfortunate incident during the festival.

Heavy vehicles have been prohibited in required areas, especially at Gangadham Chowk, from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.
