In a joint operation by Pune Rural Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), four Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for residing illegally in Karegaon village of Shirur taluka without any valid documents.
The arrested accused have been identifed as Kamarol Ramzan Sheikh (32), native of Damodar Thana Fultala, Khulna, Bangladesh, Akhlas Majed Sheikh (39), native of Usla Thana Potalipada, Gopalganj, Bangladesh, Mohammad Abdullah Malik (35), native of Madappasha, Kalia Taluka, Nodaile District, Bangladesh and Jahid Abubakar Sheikh (30), native of Pidoli, Kalia Taluka, Nodaile District, Bangladesh.
As per the information, the action was taken following a confidential tip-off received by Police Constable Mosin Bashir Sheikh of the Anti-Terrorism Squad, Pune Rural, that a few illegal Bangladeshi people are residing in the area.
Based on the intelligence input, a joint raid was conducted on the night of July 11 between 6:30pm and 11:20pm in Karegaon. During the raid, all four accused were arrested on the spot.
All four accused were found residing in Karegaon for the past two years without valid passports or visas. They had allegedly entered Indian territory through unauthorised routes and possessed forged Indian Aadhaar cards.
Following the arrest, a case has been registered at Ranjangaon Police Station under Sections 336(2)(3), 338, 340(2) of the BNS and other relevant sections of the Passport Act.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said, "The accused has been arrested and produced in the court. Further investigation is underway to uncover the network that facilitated their illegal entry and dummy identity cards."
