Admission process for 14 lakh Class 11 students across all districts in Maharashtra is being conducted online through a centralized system for the first time. However, the process has led to major confusion among students and parents over the delay in the admission process.
Gauri Rajput, a student speaking to FPJ, said, "Although the Class 10 results were announced earlier than usual this year on May 13, 2025, the admission process got delayed in the 11th class because of the delay in the result of the online merit process. The first merit list was not released until June 29. While the objective of a centralized online admission process is good, due to the lack of adequate facilities and planning, it has led to significant delays and disruptions."
Piyusha Hingmire, member of ABVP speaking to FPJ, said, "Students are facing several issues such as technical glitches, lack of clarity in rules, an unorganized priority system, insufficient training for staff, and an inadequate number of guidance centers that lead the students in frustration."
Additionally, it has been made mandatory for students to submit a Non-Creamy Layer certificate for admission. Students who do not possess this certificate or have no application receipt/token face the risk of being excluded from the admission process. As per government regulations, such students cannot participate in the subsequent admission rounds and will have to wait until the fourth round. Many students from rural areas have not been able to participate in the online process due to lack of proper information.
Meanwhile, the Pune unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has raised this issue and given a letter to the Chief Minister, School Education Minister, and State Education Minister over the issue.
Atharva Kulkarni, ABVP West Maharashtra Regional Secretary, said, if any student faces academic loss because of this mismanagement, they will start a strong protest against the School Education Department.
"Even if the idea behind the new admission system is good, the government must make sure all arrangements are properly made before starting such a process," he added.
