The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a major anti-encroachment drive between the Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Main Gate and Bharati Vidyapeeth Back Gate in the Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar Ward Office jurisdiction on Thursday. The action targeted unauthorised constructions along the footpaths, building front and side margins, which were obstructing public movement and traffic flow.
The joint operation was carried out by the Building Development Department (Zone 5) and the Encroachment Removal Department following repeated complaints from citizens about congestion and illegal activities in the area.

The team was supported by four police personnel, 21 Maharashtra Security Force members and 45 municipal workers.
During the operation, a total of 2,200 sq. ft. of illegal construction was cleared. Authorities seized three hand carts, 22 iron counters, six steel counters, furniture including tables and chairs, six tent-related items and 16 unauthorised sheds. Around 10 truckloads of material were confiscated.
PMC officials confirmed that such drives will continue across the city in the coming days to ensure public spaces are kept encroachment-free.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Sandeep Khalate, Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment/Unauthorised Constructions), and Vijaykumar Thorat, Deputy Commissioner of Zone 3, with the presence of Surekha Bhange, Assistant Commissioner of Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar Ward Office.
