Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan inaugurated a state-of-the-art synthetic track and a “Hospital on Wheels” facility at the Bhusawal Railway Grounds on Wednesday. He lauded these developments as significant strides towards enhancing sports infrastructure and healthcare accessibility.

The synthetic track is expected to provide athletes with an international-standard training facility, reducing the financial burden associated with competing globally. "This facility will help restore Bhusawal's reputation as a centre of sporting excellence," Radhakrishnan remarked, highlighting Indian Railways' legacy of producing exceptional athletes.

The "Hospital on Wheels", an innovative concept converting old railway coaches into mobile healthcare units, was also appreciated by the Governor. "This initiative reuses old coaches to deliver medical services to remote areas, addressing critical healthcare gaps," he noted.

The event also included the felicitation of railway track maintenance employees, whom Radhakrishnan referred to as the "unsung heroes of the railways". He praised their diligence in ensuring safety and preventing accidents.

State Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare expressed nostalgia about the ground’s transformation, recalling its historical significance for football, hockey, and Ranji cricket matches. He hoped the new facilities would restore the ground’s former glory.

Central Railway officials, including General Manager Dharamveer Meena, Chief Operating Manager Shyamsunder Gupta, and Divisional Manager ET Pandey, provided insights into ongoing projects.

The Governor inaugurated the synthetic track by lighting a traditional “mashal”, symbolising a beacon for progress and excellence.
