It has been revealed that the license of the company to which the work of constructing modular ICUs at Nashik District Hospital and Malegaon General Hospital was awarded during the COVID period is bogus. The investigation report has also concluded that the government was cheated of crores of rupees due to this incident.
According to the information received, during the COVID period, it was decided to build a 30-bed modular ICU at Nashik District Hospital and a 10-bed modular ICU at Malegaon General Hospital under the Emergency Response & Health System Preparedness Package: Phase-II (ECRP-II package). The contract for this was given to Thane-based Crenovative Powertech Pvt. Ltd. However, it has become clear that this company was operating with a bogus license.
Hospital Employee's Wife, Father Are Shareholders
The shocking aspect of this case is that the wife of an employee of Nashik District Hospital and his father are also shareholders in this bogus company. The report clearly states that the rules of the government's procurement policy have been violated. After completing the investigation into this case, the Accounts and Finance Department of the Zilla Parishad submitted its report to the then Chief Executive Officer, Ashima Mittal. Mittal has instructed the District Surgeon to register a criminal case against the concerned officers and employees.
Recommendation to Blacklist the Company
Out of the ₹6.74 crore sanctioned for the modular ICU project alone, 50 percent, i.e., ₹3.37 crore, was paid to this bogus company. In addition, the hospital had also paid a total of ₹7.65 crore to this company for 10 other tender processes for the purchase of ventilators, Holter monitors and medical equipment. Therefore, it has come to light that a total of ₹11.02 crore of government funds went to this bogus licensee company. The report recommends blacklisting the company and taking legal action against all concerned.
