The Kaas Plateau, located in Satara district, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has begun unveiling its colourful treasures to tourists. The plateau, which is referred to as Maharashtra's Valley of Flowers, is currently adorned with a carpet of various colourful flowers, attracting tourists even before the official start of the season.

Located just 25 kilometres from Satara city, the Kaas Plateau is currently bathed in beauty. The entire plateau is mainly covered in white Chavar flowers, and when viewed from a distance, it seems as if a white sheet has been spread on the ground. Along with this, other wildflowers have also started showing their presence.

The arrival of these flowers has made the view on the plateau more enchanting, and it is becoming a treat for photographers. The flower season usually starts from September 1 every year, and nature lovers eagerly wait for it. However, this year, heavy rains in Satara and the Western Ghats since May have created a very conducive environment for the flowers to bloom. Due to this favourable weather, the flowers have bloomed early this year, and the plateau has started getting crowded with tourists even before the official season begins.
Tourists, especially young people and families, are flocking in large numbers on weekends to see the white sheet spread over the plateau and other colourful flowers peeking through. The influx of people is increasing as they come to capture this enchanting form of nature on camera and experience this peaceful atmosphere. Although the plateau currently looks white with flowers, in the coming days other flowers will bloom in full force, and this plateau will be decorated in various colours. Nature itself has given indications that this year's flower festival will be even more enchanting.
There are over 850 species of flowering plants, many of which are endemic to this region. The best time to visit is September and October. It is also during this blooming period that visitors come here for their pre-wedding shoots.
In addition to the floral spectacle, tourists also visit other popular spots in the area, including Kumudini Lake, Bhambawali Vajrai Waterfall, Vasota Fort, Kaas Lake and Ekiv Waterfall.
