After a series of tragic mishaps in India—including the recent Ahmedabad plane crash that killed 270 people, a helicopter crash claiming seven lives, and today’s Pune bridge collapse that left at least two dead and 35 feared drowned (with a few rescued)—several people have taken to social media to express their grief, anger, and frustration.
A few held the local administration responsible for this accident in Pune, where the death toll is supposed to increase.
One of the social media users wrote, "I visited this place just two weeks back. The condition of the bridge was very bad and dilapidated. Due to heavy crowd on Sunday holiday, the bridge was shaking and it seemed that it would collapse on a holiday—and it did collapse today."
Another wrote, "This was bound to happen. The bridge was old and in a pathetic state. Government kept it open, waiting for a tragedy to happen." While others expressed shock at the pace with which mishaps are happening in India. Some even tagged it as a Final Destination storyline.

Sena (UBT) blames administration
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey on the bridge collapse in Pune says, "...If the bridge was already in a dilapidated condition and had been closed, why was the administration not present there? Why wasn’t it barricaded? Why were there no police personnel deployed? Why wasn’t the bridge repaired? Was it deliberately neglected so that people would gather and die? Is this all part of some conspiracy? Is this why we elect governments? We do not want to politicize this, it doesn’t matter which party is in power or who the administration is. But why play with people’s lives? Air travel isn’t safe, water routes aren’t safe, what is safe in this country?...We urge Devendra Fadnavis Ji to take strict action against those responsible..."
