Thane: “Tell the mirror that you have quit smoking for lifetime” — with this powerful mantra, Ajay Thakkar, Chairman and Managing Director of Jupiter Hospital, set the tone for a transformative initiative launched on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day.

The event marked the official inauguration of a Tobacco De-Addiction Support Group by Jupiter Hospital, Thane, in collaboration with the globally recognized World Pranic Healing Foundation, founded by Master Choa Kok Sui.

Dr. Thakkar, addressing a gathering of medical professionals, wellness experts, patients, urged individuals battling tobacco addiction to make a firm personal resolution.

“Decide on the timeline, repeat it to yourself and everyone you meet — that you are quitting for life. This constant reminder to your subconscious mind strengthens your inner resolve and can break even the most chronic habits,” he said.

The launch event featured a pilot session on Twin Hearts Meditation and Pranic Healing, demonstrating how energy-based, no-touch, drug-free therapies are gaining traction as complementary tools in addiction recovery.

The newly formed support group is designed to provide long-term, holistic care to individuals seeking freedom from tobacco. Going beyond conventional medical interventions, it incorporates emotional and psychological support through monthly sessions, ensuring consistent motivation and community engagement.

“Tobacco addiction is not just a physical dependency; it affects the emotional and psychological well-being of a person,” said Dr. Alpa Dalal, Head of Pulmonary Medicine at Jupiter Hospital. “Our approach integrates medical treatment with emotional and mental wellness, offering patients a more comprehensive path to recovery.”

The partnership with the World Pranic Healing Foundation reflects a growing shift toward holistic healing in India’s healthcare landscape. Speaking at the event, Sumi Lazar, Trustee, and Sriram Rajagopal, Director of World Pranic Healing India, stated, “Tobacco addiction is deeply rooted in emotional and psychological patterns. Pranic Healing provides a non-invasive, no-touch therapeutic method that helps break these cycles. This collaboration is a step toward integrating energy-based wellness into mainstream healthcare.”

The initiative has been lauded for bringing together a multidisciplinary community — from doctors and therapists to spiritual healers and survivors — to support a common goal: a tobacco-free future.
