The success of the 100-day programme given to each department by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis may have brought cheers to the state government, but the target given under the 150-day program has raised eyebrows.
The Planning Department, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is drafting a state vision for 2047 under the Centre’s Viksit Bharat @ 2047 initiative. The state aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2027 and $3.5 trillion by 2047. As part of a 150-day programme, it will prepare a vision document outlining long, mid and short-term goals for 2047, 2035 and 2029, respectively.
To prepare the vision document, secretaries of the various state departments have been asked to work on 16 sectors such as education, agriculture, health, rural and urban development, land resources, infrastructure, finance, industry, water resources, social development, etc.
These secretaries are expected to involve the state corporations, authorities and various boards in the drafting, along with the citizen survey.
What is most interesting is the time period set by the department to complete the task while issuing the order on Monday. For discussion, deliberations with the officers' period set is for three days (June 5). For the division-level citizen survey 25 days (June 27), and for having discussions with experts from various fields, 11 days (June 13).

The Planning Department has asked the secretaries to compile data, an action plan, review of the discussions while drafting the vision document by July 25 and prepare the complete draft by August 15. For finalising the Vision Document, the deadline has been set with October 2 this year.
The divisional commissioner of six revenue divisions, district collectors, commissioners of municipal corporations, director general of police, commissioners of police and district superintendent of police, chief executive officers of Zilla Parishads and the state undertakings have been asked to assist the departments concerned in their respective departments.
The only relief that may come to finish the task before the deadline is the knowledge partner, McKenzie and Company, whose appointment has been made by the NITI Aayog.
